Model Packs increase the number of Amp or FX Models of a GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt, PODxt Live or PODxt Pro, for a wider variety of tone possibilities. When a particular tone in the library relies on a Model available in one of these packs, you'll see symbol(s) to indicate which Packs: MS (Metal Shop), CC (Classics Collection), FX (FX Junkie), and PP (Power Pack).

The models within the FX Junkie Model Pack are already included in PODxt Live, and offered for purchase to add-on to GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt and PODxt Pro.

Variax is the uniquely flexibile guitar from Line 6. Our Vetta II amplifier includes a digital connection for the Variax that lets you store settings for both your amp and your guitar in the Vetta II so that when you call up a Vetta Channel Memory your amp and guitar can change sounds together. Vetta II Tones marked with this guitar symbol include this Variax data.

For each tone in the library, you'll see an icon for either a single coil or humbucker pickup. This tells you whether the tone is best for use with a single coil pickup or a humbucker, so you can select the appropriate pickup on your guitar when using this tone.

Attention POD 2.0, Flextone and HD147 owners... Your hardware doesn't do Stomp effects, so you'll hear something different than what was intended. Try increasing the Drive or choose a higher gain Amp Model to get the right sound. The other aspects of the sound should translate as expected, so you'll at least get a great starting place for tweaking.

youtube Demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DLcB4O6zb4&t=7s Hi all today I’m going to show you an old trick for getting a clean tone from a very dirty compressed amp using a drive pedal or EQ. plus my number one trick to get more sustain out of the amps in the helix at lower volumes. The amp I’m using the German Ubersonic amp with the gain almost all the way up and the master at 10. I’m also purposely setting the EQ on the amp for the lead tone. I’m not going to go through everything on this patch as it’s not really necessary. It seems silly to tell you about delay setting’s and such. Although If you have questions however please feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer them in the comments. Minotaur So with the amp done at that I’ll move on to the cleaner sounds using overdrive. For this I’m using a minotaur. The idea is to turn down the gain and the level to get an almost clean sound. This has been done usually in amps without a lot of clean headroom to coax out more sounds from a great rock amps as you don’t always get the sound you want out of the one amp in the analog world. The reason for doing this in the Helix could be to save processing on dual amp setups. so you have more power for effects. plus I think it sounds better in some situations. Settings So the setting’s on the pedal are 0 on the gain and 3 and a half on the level. that cleans the amp up if you went up on the gain in the amp you’d have to lower the level farther to compensate to get a similar tone. If you want a totally clean sound try replacing the minotaurs with a graphic with this you could also chang the character of the amp to say more of a scooped clean like a fender black face type amp here i’ll do it now. So I’ve got the EQ setup cleaner and added a scoop it sounds like this. EQ 1 Right on to the crunch tone. I’ve got an eq set up with the level a bit louder to feed the amp a bit more. Then I’m taking out a bit of bottom end to tighten up the sound of the amp and adding in a bit of a low mid to push it a little there to give a kind of Marshall vibe. EQ 2 EQ 2 is then the lead tone. It’s function is to push the amp hard to get as much out of it as possible and to add some more tone shaping to the sound. I’m cutting everything below the 500hz band to super tighten up the sound you don’t need it in a lead tone Then I’m push from 500hz to 2kz with the 1kz band being most prominent the is the frequency that really cuts in a band for guitar. Now on to my trick. Have you noticed in the helix even when your gained up to your eyeballs there’s not all that much sustain when at low volume or on headphones. all that’s because gain doesn’t help you get this, it’s volume the helps, even on a clean sound the interaction between the speakers an your pickups and strings are helping the guitar notes to last longer therefore the louder you have it the longer those notes will last until they turning in to endless feedback. Well until line 6 come up with a model of a freqout pedal or make there own. short of buying one of these pedals and sticking it in the loop of your helix theres only one trick I know to help this. what I do is add in compressor on my regular output chain. I’ve added in an extra compressor doing parallel compression. what it’s doing is crushing the life out of the signal at a 20:1 compression ratio. with a long release time it grabs the notes I play and keeps them louder for longer. you don’t want this as the core of your tone though so I then turn down the mix the gives the illusion of more sustain with out the volume from a speaker. it will also help make notes last longer once you have some volume too as an added bonus when using louder speakers which should help get the same sustain quieter. Well thats it for now. I hope you enjoyed this video see you again soon. Links below for the patches and to the demo video.
